嘻哈藝人Sister Souljah在九年前推了一本小說作品The Coldest Winter Ever&不但打出一百多萬漂亮銷售成績，以讓許多人對於這個名字留下深刻印象，當時造成了一股熱潮現象影響許多年輕人。這本書主要在敘述一位街頭毒販老大的女兒Winter Santiaga如何在混亂的幫派環境下勇敢生活，當時該書被許多學校單位甚至是監獄當做上課素材。本月初，Sister Souljah又推出了一本新書Midnight: A Gangster Love Story，結果評價可是不負眾望，甚至在紐約時代雜誌的書籍排行有第七名的位置，這本書可以說是The Coldest Winter Ever的續作，因為毒販男主角Midnight是前一本作品女角Winter Santiaga的愛人。

在這九年間，Sister Souljah倒也不是埋頭苦幹的在寫新書，東岸團體Public Enemy在去前年推出的單曲[Hard Rhymin]有找她合作，在一九九二年的時候，她還因為柯林頓說出類似種族歧視的言論，一狀告上法庭，結果整件事鬧的全國新聞熱騰騰。
友人Emily Bestler這麼談到她: 她這一生都在文字上創作，不論是年輕的黑人女性或是老一輩的婆婆奶奶，大家都是讀這本The Coldest Winter Ever長大，所以很多人都非常期待這本新書

美國知名洛杉磯樂團Maroon 5即將在十二月九號推出混音專輯''Call & Response''，由A&M/Octone唱片公司發行，對於許多’真’嘻哈音樂迷來說，這似乎是值得一聽的東西， 根據告示牌報導指出，Maroon 5把砲口描準嘻哈樂迷，找來Swizz Beats, Just Blaze, Pharell Williams, David Banner, DJ Premier, Mary J Blige等人來跨刀/製作混音過去的舊作品，更令人想不到的是西岸製作一哥DJ Quik也會跨刀製作[Shiver]混音版本，還有東岸樂團The Roots首腦Questlove，以及芝加哥新秀Cool Kids。 主唱Adam Levine表示自己一向都在尋找嘗試不同的音樂創作，所以才會摧生這張混音專輯的念頭，過去還跟Kanye West合作歌曲[Heard Em' Say]混音，請聽: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaAs-6DXX-E ，這是有靈魂樂手John Legend跨刀的版本，以下為''Call & Response''曲目，僅供參考。這個台灣代理機會應該不錯大。

個人有的是Vol.1黑膠唱片，有多愛？大概２個月可以連續聽吧。至於為什麼其他３張沒有買，本來有打算但既然都有盒裝精選，那到時候買這就行啦。

"Its taken me a minute to get this bio up...hopefully it answers lots of questions y'all have. I'm from Van Nuys CA (818!!!!!), but have lived all over Los Angeles. I come from a big Mexican/American family...i've got 4 little sisters. Comin' up i lived mosty with my abuela...FAMILY is everything were i'm from. Times were always tough havin' such a big family, money was always low..we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for most of my life..but shit was cool as long as the family was straight. I write my songs based on my life experiences. Bein broke, feeln like shit don't ever change, and hood life in my music. Struggle and real life...thats what i'm all about. My music has been whats saved me from myself and the street..I've been writing forever little poems and shit. I've always sang. I left school to try out this music thing...deal after shady deal... singin songs that didn't mean shit to me, that other people wrote till I finally got to do my thing. I really feel that lots of people i initially worked with were real out of touch with the streets and couldn't relate to how i came up. Latino culture is so BIG in LA, and is really taking over the globe, its like finally my sound and message are starting to be accepted. Most of my albums finished, I bang 4 the mijas, latina women hold shit down (and are sexy as hell)!!!!! Lowrider culture has so much flavor...my albums a blend of real WestCoast beats with a little street LA latina vibe. I can't wait to post more songs cause every1s feedback has meant alot and KEPT ME PUSHIN.... "
